This week we are featuring Alex Runde as part of our intern spotlight series!
Alex is originally from Sarasota, Florida and enjoys surfing, skimboarding, mountain biking, distance running, and hiking during his free time. Before returning to his home state, Alex lived in Minnesota and Maine to work at an exhibit in Acadia National Park. Alex earned his bachelor’s degree in hydrology from St. Cloud University and is currently attending the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne as an environmental education graduate student.
Alex is an Intern Manager for Green Scholars and has worked on the Green Scholars Development and Sustainability Calculator projects during his time at Seaside Sustainability. He chose to work at Seaside Sustainability in order to improve upon his curriculum design abilities and create educational content intended to increase students' environmental literacy. While at Seaside Sustainability, Alex has really enjoyed teaching interns about the intricacies of educational writing and activity/project design. He hopes that the interns on the Green Scholars Development team learned something and feel proud of their contributions.
In the coming months, Alex plans on working to get some of his master's work published, continuing as an educator at Riverwalk Park in Rockledge, Florida, and surfing and skimboarding in his free time. Someday soon, he hopes to apply material that he wrote at Seaside Sustainability to summer camps and/or non-traditional schools. Thank you so much for all of your hard work Alex! You have been an incredible team member and we are confident that you will create a positive impact in the future through environmental education.
