This week, we will be featuring Edmarie Martinez in our intern spotlight series!
Edmarie grew up deep within the mountains in the countryside of Puerto Rico. Her appreciation for the environment inspired her to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Biology. After learning about the implications people's actions have on the environment - and, in turn, people's health - she went on to pursue a Masters of Public Health in Environmental Health from Boston University. Within that time she began her honorable pursuit of teaching STEM to middle school students.
Edmarie joined Seaside Sustainability to blend her experience in education and her love for the environment. She was drawn to our organization's mission and could see that her skills blended really well with some of the projects that we offer. While at Seaside Sustainability, Edmarie hopes to learn new skills in project management and learn more about sustainability. Her main goal is to have an impact on the future of sustainability and further promote our mission.
Edmarie is currently working on the Green School Consulting team. Her favorite part about working at Seaside Sustainability is collaborating with her teammates. All of her team members have different backgrounds but they all share the common interest of helping the environment. Edmarie is so happy to be a part of a team that shares the same values as she does for the environment. She is inspired by their motivation and determination to make a difference in the world.
In the future, Edmarie plans to keep working on green topics and education in the future. She has found that she enjoys the combination and intersection of these two topics. Thank you Edmarie for your hard work! Seaside Sustainability can’t wait to see how you take the skills and knowledge you gain here to the next level in your career.
