This week we are highlighting Isabel Thornton as part of our Intern Spotlight series.
Isabel is from Barre, Vermont. She is a senior at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, where she has a double major in English Communications and English Literature. Before joining Seaside Sustainability, Isabel completed a summer internship with a wedding magazine in Cape Cod, Celebrated Bespoke Weddings. She also serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Willow Literary Magazine at her university. Her interests include photography, videography, editing, and, of course, the environment!
She has always been passionate about the world of communications. Isabel created a social media campaign for a class during her junior year at Salve Regina that focused on fast fashion and the damage it has done to the environment. It was extremely eye-opening and inspired her to get educated about sustainability issues. She has loved the opportunity to combine her love for writing and her passion for sustainability to create meaningful work for Seaside Sustainability.
Isabel loves the wide range of work she has been involved in while at Seaside Sustainability. As a Project Manager and the Newsletter Lead for the marketing team, she has had the chance to work on many different projects. She feels ready and excited to go out into the workforce after graduation primarily because Seaside Sustainability has provided so many opportunities to craft her skills from writing blogs to formatting newsletters to being involved in all aspects of social media management. Best of all, Isabel is thankful to have worked with her marketing teammates that have instantly become lifelong friends
After graduating, Isabel hopes to continue exploring her love for communications. She has lots of ideas for her future career. She would love to be a social media manager for travel/tourism accounts like Discover Neport one day. She also dreams of starting her own magazine that puts a sustainable spin on lifestyle/creative magazines.
Isabel has played a major role in Seaside Sustainability’s marketing strategy and we are thankful for all of her contributions.
