Meet Seaside Sustainability's Board of Directors: Ashley Desrosiers

Meet Ashley Desrosiers, Board Member and volunteer Director of Communications for Seaside Sustainability. She moved to Rockport in 2014 with her husband and wanted to get more involved in the Cape Ann community. She chose to start volunteering with Seaside Sustainability because of its energetic and passionate team. She also loves that “Seaside Sustainability enables its volunteers to take real leadership within the organization [and believes that] we have so much opportunity for growth in the coming years.”

Ashley is trained as a registered dietitian and spent the last ten years in communications and public affairs consulting. She recently decided to go back to school to get new technical skills that can help us make needed progress on protecting the health of the environment and our population in a more just and inclusive manner. She is currently a student at Tufts University completing a one-year intensive MS program in Sustainable Water Management.

She co-leads the Marketing & Communications team with John Russo. They are responsible for overseeing the organization’s visibility plan and communication platforms. This includes content development for Seaside Sustainability’s social media channels, the blog, the newsletter, and getting the word out about Seaside Sustainability through media relations.

She offers this advice to anyone interested in making an impact in their community:

Use your voice. Support legislation for single-use plastic bans, greenhouse gas reductions, extended producer responsibility, and other tools for addressing environmental crises hurting our oceans and communities. Subscribe to the Seaside Sustainability newsletter and blog for ongoing updates about ways you can get involved and take action in your community.”

Ashley enjoys being involved with Seaside Sustainability because of its team of interns. She says she is “blown away by the caliber and talents of the interns who join the organization from around the globe each year. Seaside Sustainability wouldn’t be what it is without them - our internship program is best-in-class.”

Thank you for your continued support and devotion to Seaside Sustainability, Ashley! If you’d like to get involved with Seaside Sustainability, please visit our internship details and get involved pages!
